SEA TRACE: the digital passport for sea waste

On February 20, 2026, the port of Termoli became the nerve center of Italian environmental innovation with the presentation of SEA TRACE, the first national project to introduce a blockchain-based “digital passport” for accidentally caught waste (RAP). The event was a key moment for TreeBlock, which is committed to bringing its technological value to the Molise region to consolidate its strategic partnership with Innovation Sea, the creative mind behind this revolutionary model.

Success certified by the numbers The initiative has already had an extraordinary impact on the Molise coast: in less than 15 days, over 1.3 tons of waste has been recovered, already removed from the seabed by local fishermen, the true “guardians of the sea.” Thanks to The Nest’s blockchain technology, each kilo of material collected receives a digital identity via an immutable QR code, ensuring total traceability from recovery to disposal.

From the local area to the national network The Termoli event was a catalyst for connections, welcoming a network of excellence composed of political authorities, institutions, consultants, representatives of education, and corporate stakeholders. This synergy has a clear objective: to support Innovation Sea and The Nest in spreading the SEA TRACE service throughout Italy.

The role of the TreeBlock Marketplace

The transition from local excellence to national standard takes place through the TreeBlock Marketplace. Here, our wide range of customers can now select Innovation Sea’s waste collection service as a sustainable practice with impact. This integration allows companies to include real, certified data in their ESG strategy and Sustainability Report, transforming their ecological commitment into a transparent and verifiable asset. It also provides an opportunity to promote the SEA TRACE project, so that it can become a scalable model throughout the country. Together, we are charting a course for a future in which technology becomes an essential tool for the regeneration of our marine ecosystems and for a more sustainable future.
